LAMP Leicestershire Action for Mental Health Project

Description

Advocacy Support and 'Speak Up' Group

LAMP provides independent mental health advocacy (IMHA) for people who are seeking to be, or who are already, involved with mental health services. There is a specialised service for carers of people with mental illnesses. For further information on services provided please see the LAMP website (link below).

Advocacy is taking action to help people to understand and say what they want, secure their rights, represent their views, wishes, and interests and access services they need. Advocates and advocacy schemes work in partnership with the people they support and take their side. Advocacy promotes social inclusion, equality and social justice.

LAMP also manage the ‘Speak Up’ group which is an umbrella project to support people who have experienced mental health problems and their carers to be meaningfully involved in influencing local service planning, development and delivery and evaluation.
