The Centre Project

Description

Founded in 1996, The Centre provides holistic support to the unemployed, vulnerably housed and at risk of being socially isolated like older people, people with learning disabilities and people with mental health problems.

The charity aims to:

  • Help reduce isolation and loneliness, and associated mental health problems, by providing practical support and help in establishing and maintaining social support networks
  • Promote good emotional and physical health and wellbeing, boosting self-esteem and self confidence
  • Provide a warm, friendly and accessible community hub
  • Promote activities that enhance social and life skills, employment prospects and independent living.
We provide a decent City Centre based community meeting place where users who feel lonely and isolated can come and go freely, to prevent boredom, meet people and make friends. Our activities are based on your interests, actively supporting you to meet the outcomes you wish to achieve.

The Centre Project provides many opportunities for people to access a wide range of activities in the local community during the day. We provide:
  • A safe space for social interaction
  • Art and craft sessions
  • Pool/snooker tables
  • Table Tennis
  • Affordable fresh ‘home cooked’ meals
  • Coffee mornings
  • Relaxation sessions
  • Bowling/Bingo/Karaoke
  • Board and card games
  • Access to computers and internet
  • Volunteering opportunity
  • A place to meet people and prevent boredom
