The Monday Club

Description

The Monday Club is a social group for adults aged 18+ with a diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome living in the city of Leicester. The Club meets on Monday evenings from 7pm-9pm and alternate Wednesdays (times vary, see website for details) at the Leicestershire Centre for Integrated Living.

The Club aims to create a supportive environment for its members to meet other people with Asperger Syndrome and to develop friendships and mutual support, with trained staff and volunteers available to provide support where necessary.

The service provides a variety of social activities for its members (including quizzes, board games, arts and crafts, bingo, DVD/Video evenings and computing), designed around individual and group needs and preferences. Community-based activities include visits to local pubs and restaurants, pool evenings, bowling and visits to local areas and places of interest. The service also provides Social Skills Evenings, which provides people with Asperger Syndrome with the opportunity to develop social awareness in everyday situations using role play and group discussion.
