Give and Take Project

Description

A volunteer 'buddy' service that has a time-banking scheme. The project works with charities to achieve socialisation and involvement for elderly people distant from their local community. The scheme is made up of two different types of partners, Volunteers and Service Users.

Service users MUST be over 50 years of age.

Service users pay £5 annual membership fee to access the service then £1 for every hour of support used (a GAT). This is an admin fee and is not payment for the volunteer.
GATS are purchased upfront and then simply topped up as needed, rather like a pay-as-you-go mobile phone.
Service users can use their GATS whenever they like (if the volunteer is available), weekly, fortnightly, monthly and on an ad hoc basis. GATS never expire.

Volunteers can do; shopping, accompaning appointments, have a social chat in a cafe, go to social events, sit with loved one and many more.
